A sealed envelope with an orange wax seal stands in a letter rack on the bench's orange route, with a firewall and a laptop further along the pale lab bench.

Africa’s trusted cybersecurity value-added distributor.

Obscure Technologies brings leading security vendors to Africa’s resellers and channel partners, and has done since 2016.

  1. [ 01 email ]

    It starts with an email.

A routine-looking message arrives carrying something that is not routine. The email layer reads it before anyone can click.

Obscure lists Proofpoint and Sendmarc here, with Palo Alto Networks, under Email and Web Protection.

A white mail scanner stands over a belt. The envelope sealed with orange wax has been pushed off the belt into a tray, and a plain envelope is carrying on.
  2. [ 02 identity ]

Say it gets through, and someone types a password.

The attacker now holds a login. A password on its own should not open the door, and the right person should still walk straight through.

Obscure lists Okta and BeyondTrust under Access Control Management and Account Management.

A sign-in tablet shows a typed password and the word signed in, a padlock beside it has a green light, and a phone beside that says approved.
  3. [ 03 network ]

Say the attacker is inside. The network can still say no.

Traffic is inspected on its way across, and every connected device is seen, so something unexpected is stopped from spreading.

Palo Alto Networks, Forescout, Netscout, Arista and Radware, from Obscure’s solutions and vendor pages.

A firewall sits on top of a network switch with coloured cables plugged into both.
  4. [ 04 devices ]

Say a file reaches a laptop.

Endpoint protection exists to stop the malicious file before it runs, and to let the ordinary one open.

Cybereason, Trend Micro and Palo Alto Networks, under Malware Defences.

A laptop shows a downloads window in which one file is marked as held in quarantine.
  5. [ 05 data ]

And if all of that fails, the data can still come back.

Immutable copies sit out of the attacker’s reach, so recovery starts from the last clean one.

Rubrik for Data Recovery, with OneTrust for privacy and supplier risk.

A vault stands open on a stack of backup sheets, and a printed sheet marked with the orange seal lies on a tray below it.
  6. [ 06 see and test ]

Then test it before anyone else does.

Exposure scanning and automated attack testing run the attack against the customer’s own defences, and the logs show what happened.

Tenable, Pentera and Splunk, under Continuous Vulnerability Management, Penetration Testing and Audit Log Management.

A screen on a stand lists the five layers, each with a green tick and the word stopped, under a gantry whose scan head has laid a thin sheet of light across the bench.

Which layers does your customer need?

Tick the problems your customer faces. Teal is a layer you have covered, grey is a layer with no cover chosen, and orange is the attack looking for a way through.
